Private Cloud in Kenya.Keep the application running. Plan for the server that stops.
An unavailable database can stop bookings, sales and staff work at once. Our managed clusters bring failover and backups into your hosting plan, with separate options for databases and virtual machines.
Compare the HA Database Cluster and Managed VM & VPS Cluster in our cloud store. Open a plan to review its current billing terms, setup charge and total before ordering.
Start with the part of your application that needs protection
A database used by several services
Your website and staff dashboard may rely on the same customer records. The HA Database Cluster supports MySQL, PostgreSQL and Redis, with daily and hourly backups.
Managed updates and inbound migrations are included. A load-balancer service is available when your design needs one.
Several virtual machines to run
The Managed VM&VPS Cluster is for running virtual machines and containers. It combines managed updates, migration assistance and daily backups with failover.
Describe the applications you will place in the cluster. Their memory, storage and network needs determine the capacity to agree.
Failover keeps a service available. A backup recovers its data.
When a running server fails
Failover gives a service another place to run. Your application also needs working connections, name resolution and a way to reconnect after the change.
When a record is deleted
A second running copy may receive the deletion too. A retained backup gives you an earlier recovery point. Decide how much recent work you can afford to recreate.
When you need the whole application back
A database restore alone may leave out uploaded documents, configuration or application code. Include those dependencies in your recovery plan and rehearse the customer task after restoration.
Move the service without losing track of the work
01
Map the connections
List the software versions, database sizes and systems that connect to them. Include scheduled jobs and staff tools, not just the public website.
02
Agree the switch
Set a migration window and decide how new transactions will be handled while data is copied. Keep a rollback point before changing live connections.
03
Prove the result
Run a real booking or order with test information. Check the staff view, generated messages and recovery procedure before retiring the old environment.
Private Cloud FAQs
What is a private cloud?
A private cloud is a cloud environment reserved for one organisation. It describes who uses the environment; it does not by itself specify a building, processor or backup policy.
For our cluster service, agree the resource allocation, access arrangements and location in your order. That gives your team a concrete service scope to work with.
What is the difference between private cloud and public cloud?
Public cloud supplies services across a provider’s customer base. A private environment is reserved for one organisation. Either model still needs access controls, monitoring and a recovery plan.
Choose around the control and operating arrangements your application needs. Owning a private environment does not remove the work of maintaining application code or user permissions.
Can I use a private cloud for PostgreSQL or MySQL?
Yes. Our HA Database Cluster lists MySQL, PostgreSQL and Redis. Share the engine version, current data size and applications that connect to it when planning the move.
Record any extensions or special database settings.
Identify who may read or change production records.
Agree a trial migration before the live switch.
Is a private cloud hosted in my office?
It can be, but private cloud does not mean on-premises. A provider can host an organisation’s private environment away from its office.
For this service, agree the hosting location and connectivity you require before ordering. Do not plan office access or data residency around the product name alone.
Does high availability replace backups?
No. Availability and recovery solve different problems. Failover helps when a service instance fails; a backup is needed when you must recover an earlier version of the data.
Set a recovery point and practise restoring it. For example, confirm that a restored booking still opens its associated documents and can be edited by the right staff account.
