Identify the older certificate

Read its issuer, subject names and expiry in your certificate manager. An old product name alone is not enough to select a replacement.

Replace and verify

Can I still buy Symantec SSL certificates?

Our current store lists DigiCert Secure Site products, rather than a new Symantec-branded SSL range. Use those current listings when comparing a new purchase.

Did DigiCert acquire Symantec’s certificate business?

Yes. DigiCert acquired Symantec’s website-security business. Secure Site is now found in DigiCert’s current product range.

This does not establish the support or renewal entitlement on a particular older order.

Which certificate replaces my Symantec certificate?

Match the existing certificate’s hostnames and identity requirements to a current product. Secure Site, Pro, EV and wildcard are not interchangeable specifications.

Check the older order details before paying for a replacement.

Will my old certificate keep working?

Check the actual certificate’s validity, trust chain and browser result. A historical brand name cannot establish whether a specific installation is trusted today.

Is Secure Site EV stronger encryption?

EV adds identity checks. Encryption also depends on the server configuration, key and negotiated TLS connection. Choose EV for an identity requirement rather than a claim that DV encryption is weak.

Can I keep the same domain when replacing SSL?

Yes. Replacing a certificate does not require renaming your website. Request coverage for the correct hostnames, complete validation and install the new certificate for those endpoints.
