Check Domain Name Availability

When acquiring a domain name, the first step one takes is to check for the domain name availability. This is because a domain name must be unique and if a domain name is already taken, then you have to find another option or an alternative domain name. Fortunately, today there are many domain name extensions available that one can choose from, meaning one will likely find the domain name they are checking for available at least in some extensions.

A domain name is the must have address today, primarily used to locate resources that are located on the internet. This includes name such as www.ryanada.com, www.truehost.cloud, www.woza.io, www.truehost.co.ke, www.bad.domains etc. This shows that domain names come in different extensions (the last part of the name), and one has options to choose from such as .com, .org, .cloud, .ke, .domains and many more.

Checking for Domain Name Availability

How then does one get to know if the domain name they want is available or not? There are tools that are meant to offer exactly that. The first thing to do is to find a domain name registrar. These are the people who offer domain registration services and include companies such as Truehost Cloud, Goddady, Woza, NameSilo and many more. These can be found through a simple Google search.

After finding a domain registrar’s website, you will find that they present you a domain checker or a place where you can search for the domain name that you want. Here, enter the domain name you are interested in and click on search. You will be presented with the information on the availability of the domain name that you search for, as well as suggestions for other similar domain names that you could use. The information presented include whether the domain name is available, and the price of that domain name.

What if the Domain is not Available?

Sometimes you will find that the domain name you are checking for is not available. What do you do?

If the domain is not available, the Whois service can give you more information on when the domain was registered, when it was registered and when it is expiring. Some registrars will also give information on who is the owner of the domain.

If you still want this specific domain name and it is not available, you can consider contacting the owner of the domain name through the listed registrar to find out of thy would be willing to sell the domain name to you.
