Changing a WordPress Account Username

If you want your display name to appear differently perhaps for security purposes in WordPress, you can do so through 3 different ways. This is through phpMyadmin, plugins or manually.

Manual way is the simplest of all because its just deleting the older user and adding a new user.

The question is How?

• Login to WordPress dashboard
• click on user-add new

 

 

 

 

 

• Fill in the details. To ensure its the admins name ,click on the subscriber role and make it the administrators‘.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

• Log out as the admin and login with the new user details.
• Choose the option of view all users and delete the default admin,- choose attribute all content to- check the newadminusername and confirm deletion.

Using PhpMyAdmin

• Login to cpanel
• Locate phpMyAdmin in the database section
• Click on wordpress username with wp- that should be changed
• Double click on wpis-users

• Click on edit and change the username. Click Go to activate it.

• Login to the WordPress dashboard again and click on users. Choose your profile. Change your first and last,password if you want,nickname and display name. This way they get updated to the new user-name details
